Boston Fashion Week 2014 was all about nurturing talents and building a community. And here is why we think that Boston has a great ecosystem for emerging designers.
1. Boston Fashion Week founder Jay Calderin is the educator who really cares about the emerging talents.
Calderin was not only present at many events during the Week, but he was taking photos and running around to make sure the shows were going well while networking with guests. Even though he couldn't make it to Maki & Mpho's event, Calderin was kind enough to send us a message and wish us luck. We truly appreciate his support.
2. Boston has an active #SharingIsCaring social media community
Boston community cannot be fully described without mentioning the social media-savvy Bostonians. All our panelists and other supporters actively promoted our event via Twitter and Facebook, and that led to the success of our event!
3. Boston fashion community is collaborative rather than competitive.
Throughout the week, we had opportunities to visit events hosted by other companies and brands. They were all open to sharing ideas and co-promoting each other's event. Here are some people we met during the Week (mostly at the menswear events)!
